Review of Downfall (2004) by Alexander M — 22 Nov 2011
I hadn't really seen that many WWII movies through the eyes of the Germans and certainly haven't seen any through the eyes of Hitler. Downfall is an account of the last few days of Hitler's regime told through the eyes of several people working around him.
While I can't vouch for it's historical accuracy, It's certainly an interesting character study of Hitler and many of the people that surrounded him. More than anything, though, this movie really gets across the nearly apocalyptic feeling during the fall of the Nazi state, and features some of the most gut wrenching and heart breaking scenes I have seen in a while (Thanks Frau Goebbels).
Totally worth watching, but make sure that you aren't expecting to have a cheery day afterwards.
