Review of Downfall (2004) by Arslan K — 25 May 2014
A candid look at the leaders of Nazi Germany forced to come to terms with their certain downfall as the Russians get ever closer to overrunning their once proud capital of Berlin. The regime's evil is not overlooked, but focuses on the once proud ideological people who are faced with their own humanity.
Not only their nation but everything they have believed is collapsing, and the results are tragic on many levels, but like watching a car accident it is mesmerizing to see the consequences of believing your leader is god.
Some choose to fight to the death. Some are in denial and think they can still win. But eventually despair sweeps over everyone, and while some are willing to swallow their pride, others would rather die than accept reality and be captured by a people they not only consider less than human but who have the same ruthless hatred as they did.
