Review of Downfall (1997) by Adam K — 02 Jun 2010
This is really a unique movie filled with great performances and fantastic dramatization. The best part of the movie is Bruno Ganz's portrayal of Hitler, it really is disturbing to watch him in some parts. The movie as a whole is very disturbing as well because at some points you actually feel some remorse for the characters who are carrying out some of the most horrible acts imaginable.
This would be a great movie to watch in a high school history class because it really sheds light on a part of the psyche of Hitler and the maniacal devotion of some of the Nazi's. You get to see the strategic side of Hitler, which is something I think that younger kids need to know about but aren't usually taught, and then you get to see that collapse.
