Review of Downfall (1997) by Anu K — 08 Feb 2011
One of the most stunning performances I have ever seen in my life by Bruno, who does an absolutely incredible job at capturing Hitler in all of his dimensions. On top of that, it literally looks like some of the actors are the actual people taken from history.
Himmler's actor is a dead-ringer, as is Goebbel's actor. Whoever found these people deserves huge props for that. Overall, I'd say it was perfectly done. From the frightening rants (that yielded some of the funniest videos on youtube) to the exploration of Hitler as a man, which he was, and people tend to forget.
It captured the epic crash and burn of Hitler's thousand-year regime in a movie that was, in my opinion, flawlessly made.
