Review of Downfall (1997) by Joseph A — 18 Dec 2011
There's really nothing more they could've done to make this a better film which is why it gets the prestigious five stars. The film does a great job of portraying the (in my opinion) pure insanity and irrationality of the people living in Hitlers bunker, especially Hitler himself.
I usually prefer documentaries to factual films but this is one of those exceptions since it is based off of two books written by people who lived there. It is just too crazy seeing these people pledging the highest amount of respect to a single man who cares nothing for them.
And the fact that it's a German film and in German adds to the credibility and realism as opposed to recent American efforts. (Valkyrie, which will be viewed by me soon) A MUST SEE!
