Review of Downfall (1997) by Malevolent1991 M — 07 Feb 2012
Downfall is a hauntingly realistic depiction of one of history's most evil (and misunderstood) dictators. This look at Hitler's final days is compelling yet controlled, with moments of war and utter destruction paralleled with moments of sorrow, fear, and reflection.
Bruno Ganz utterly masters his role as Hitler, and by the end of the film one is unsure whether to cheer at the scenes of suicide, or simply watch in awe.
