Review of Downfall (1997) by Morten Å — 07 Nov 2012
Unbelievable realism & exceptional accuracy on-screen, Downfall is one of the greatest films of all time, without a shadow of a doubt. Bruno Ganz's performance is the most convincing & realistic interpretation of Adolf Hitler so far in the world cinema.
Depicting the last days of Hitler, the most unusual thing about Downfall is that it portrays Hitler as a human, managing to even evoke sympathy & pity from the viewers. The casting is simply perfect, the best of this decade with each actor resembling their true characters which were played realistically well.
Highly detailed, brutally accurate & simply stunning, Downfall not only covers the human side of the greatest evil who ever lived but also is a testimony to why & what made so many people simply trust him blindly.
A must watch. Just go watch it.
