Review of Down Terrace (2010) by David H — 03 Jul 2013
Ben Wheatley's debut really shows his direction skills in this almost fly on the wall story following a crime family just as the father and son return home from a stint in prison. The story follows their suspicions of a snitch in their circle of associates.
The family are all packed into a small terrace house in Brighton but Wheatley somehow finds space and angles where others would fail. It's gritty and very real with some darkly funny moments in an otherwise serious and sometimes grim story.
Wheatley really handles the darkest of dark humour extremely well. After being very impressed with the brutal Kill List and more recently in the hilarious Sightseers I just can't wait for Friday to come for the Premiere of his new film - A Field in England.
Catch it in cinemas, Blu ray, DVD and on Film4 this Friday!
