Review of Down in the Valley (2005) by Christopher J — 12 Nov 2007
Too stark to be worth more than three stars; but too well done to be given any less. Norton's disturbed cowboy is fantastic (but creepy!). The characters are interesting, but the slow moving script doesn't do much more than smack you in the face with a pessimistic nihilism.
The cinematography is impressive; the problem is that it really only serves to exacerbate the sense of yearning and decay. Worth looking at, but not if you bore too easily, or if you can only handle 'feelgood'.
