Review of Down in the Valley (2005) by Brandon V — 23 Jun 2008
I rented this because of Ed Norton. His portrayal of Harlan is sensitive and sweet on the outside, but you can tell that something just isn't right with him from the very beginning. But for some reason you can't really hate his character. Rather you feel sorry for him. The power of Edward Norton. The strained relationship between Evan Rachel Wood's and David Morse's characters is also a great display of talent on the actors' parts. Rory Culkin's character is annoying, especially towards the end. It's hard to imagine a kid not caring that some guy is shooting at his own father.
It's worth a watch, if just for the great acting.
