Review of Doubt (2009) by Lee O — 13 Jan 2011
This movie is Marmite, you are gonna love it or hate it. The acting from every one involved is compelling. I couldn't take my eyes off of the screen.
However the story is horrid, vile, almost unwatchable. The good name of Philip Seymour Hoffman's character is hounded by Meryl Streep's character throughout the film and it is the chemistry between the two performers that sets this film on fire. Amy Adam's character adds a third dimension as she is bounced back and forwards between Hoffman and Streep.
.It is this chemistry between the main characters that is so compelling.
I would recommend this film to folks but when it was over I felt soiled by it.
