Review of Doubt (2009) by Corey C — 11 Jun 2012
Extraordinarily acted drama that nevertheless feels a bit slight and... how do I put this... over-directed, I suppose, because the movie goes a little nuts with the Dutch angles and the pathetic fallacy.
It's weird to say this, but it's a very strange movie when the other three principal characters outshine Meryl Streep, whose Sister Aloysius sometimes feels more like a bundle of tics with a Brooklyn accent than a real person.
Sometimes. Her final scenes are outstanding, because hey, it's Meryl Streep. Viola Davis steals the whole film though, that much is true.
