Review of Doubt (2008) by Alvin Y — 27 Nov 2011
Thanks to its powerhouse performances and writing, this film leaves no doubt that this is truly a masterful film in terms of general concept. It exactly targets the lesson of the title word, Doubt, and as this film progresses, we end up in feeling where the characters had some doubts.
All the actors and actresses here are all deserved that Oscar nomination. Every acting is balance and subtle that I can almost cry out myself. Since its based on a play, the dialogue is such subversive and tactic that you may not let it go.
What I truly liked about is how the film is set in a catholic school and thinking are the sisters and nuns and priests in that place are all kind to the students? Is it also possible that the Meryl Streep character may regret at the end? Is it also true that the Viola Davis scene is one of the most emotional scenes in the film? And I have some more, but still this movie will never leave me into the misery, I care less to the acting but still a powerful one, and for that, I think it's a sad and emotional film overall.
