Review of Doubt (2008) by Ben C — 27 Feb 2014
Philip Seymour Hoffman, rest his soul, is a priest at a parochial school is alleged to have had some type of relations with a young black child. His mother doesn't seem to mind, as his father isn't in the picture, so some father figure which he seems to enjoy being around is better than nothing.
The principal played by Meryl Streep is on a mission to get him removed though she has no proof. Young naive Amy Adams refuses to believe despite how confident Streep is. Eventually, she tricks Hoffman into believing she has proof by using an old police investigation trick of saying you have proof of everything and letting them confess.
A pretty solid movie. The performances all across the board are pretty good. It doesn't get too preachy either which is good.
