After watching many Film Noirs from The Maltese Falcon to Touch of Evil, I have concluded that Film Noir is my favorite genre (or style depending on your definition) and Double Indemnity is my absolute favorite of the classic era.

It has fairly simple premise that goes a long way with the directing talents of Billy Wilder to boot. MacMurray and Stanwyck are a perfect screen combo and when they talk with all that sexual subtext and flirtatious banter, they are electric.

The dark scenery is gorgeous and the music is also great but my favorite part is, well, everything. Every element of this movie blends together perfectly and it's paced so well that even members of my family who aren't crazy about black and white movies liked it.

A Grade-A thriller from my favorite era of film.
