Review of Double Indemnity (1973) by Michael H — 11 May 2013
So hard boiled, so noir, so drenched with smart banter that it almost seems a parody of Film Noir, rather than one of the earliest classics of the genre. The sex tinged games between the insurance salesman and the woman seem almost obligatory, as if they know they must play these roles but don't really feel them, while the honest affection is between the insurance salesman and his company's insurance investigator.
Perhaps that's why, in the end, the salesman returns home.
