Review of Double Indemnity (1973) by Ken S — 12 Apr 2014
Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwyck, and Edward G. Robinson star in this film noir about an insurance salesman who falls for a woman and then helps her plot to give her husband life insurance and murder him for the money and their relationship.
MacMurray and Stanwyck are decent leads, but it is Edward G. Robinson who gave my favorite performance in the film, as the crusty overworked claims adjuster. Billy Wilder was a great director who could easily bounce from darker film noir to light hilarious comedies.
This is a classic of it's genre, and I enjoyed it, but I may prefer the John Huston film noir work.
