Review of Double Dragon (1994) by Sandy J — 04 Feb 2008
The transition from videogame to movie seldom goes well. Certainly the first Tomb Raider was enjoyable and Doom was just about OK, but most fall into the crapper, such as Super Mario Bros, Street Fighter and the entire canon of Uwe Boll.
This was no different. I wasn't expecting much from it and I guess it could have been worse. Cheesy, cheap, badly acted with poor fight choreography and some feeble attempts at Verhoeven style sci-fi satire. it has aged as badly as the videogame from which it was based. Despite a birth date of 1994, It looked like it was made in 1984. Mark Dacascos and writer Paul Dini (yes, the one of Batman: The Animated Series fame) have definitely done better than this.
