Review of Dope (2015) by Chance E — 23 Jun 2015
Upon discovering the plot of this film I was instantly interested. Takes place in Inglewood california and has a lot of local references. The protagonist is someone that I was immediately able to relate to.
A Straight A student, punk rocker, nerd, that lives in the hood and is just trying to go to college so he can get the eff out and get a good job. People that have known me for most of my life will immediately see why I can relate.
I wont give away much else about the plot but my one grip is that it made a few jokes and had a few lines that I feel I could have written a bit better myself, and the ending left a little something to be desired, however this was a good movie which I particularly felt happy was finally made as it shows how people can be a walking contradiction that breaks all stereotypes.
Not everyone can be easily categorized.
