Call it a DOPE but it's something I think addresses our society today especially teens on growing up and trying to adjust and fit to the community you're into. It's truly one of the best films of this year about coming of an age story.

It has less high school dramedy which is surprisingly a relief, instead we see the life and struggles of Malcolm on being an adult. This subject was told personally honest and emotional in last year's Boyhood, and Dope shares a passion and courage to that movie.

Many teens today uses some illegal drugs and pots to enjoy the the rest of their day, this movie also shows the brutality and the pain of taking these stuff and how it affects not only their life but their future as well.

There is a particular scene here that I think will be disturbing to the audiences wherein a woman vomits on the face of a man, though that scene is not real, but the way the director showed it is really true and of course it's the teenager's first time to face something like that and so the audiences too.

With soundtrack that has been made by Pharrell Williams, it takes us back the early days of the 70s and 80s to its music choice and the cinematography that is really bleak and sharp that you won't imagine it is set in our present days.

No it's not a ghetto or hood movie but it's entertaining than those. It has less violence and less f and n words used. Dope is once again NOT the dopiest film of this year but the surprising feel good film that most teenagers can relate today.
