Review of Dope (2015) by Joey V — 24 Feb 2016
May come off strange in some scenes but Dope has a interesting set of additions great acting, interesting creative new story with some throw backs to older hood films, and all around great directing by Rick Famuyiwa and he wrote the film to which shows this man has a bright future.
I was surprised by the great acting from Shameik Moore as Malcolm although I didn't care much for his friends I thought they were all great. All around the film Dope comes off as a smart, energetic, and throwback esk comedy/drama with a tight throwback to the 90's which maybe nostalgic in multiple ways.
all around Dope is a film that I feel was original and quite a great time getting out of all the cliches and watching a great film for once and sadly its a film I suggest you see but didn't get the slack it should have got.
