Review of Dope (2015) by Regina B — 29 Feb 2016
A coming of age movie that reflects the reality of minority groups; it is not your average White Teenaged Boy Gets The Girl of His Dreams story, as we are all accustomed to seeing. It comically addresses the actuality of people of colour; having to fight against stereotypes and expectations of class and race. Albeit, in this case, trying to succeed in a run-down neighbourhood as a drug dealer, through the intellect of a potential Harvard student.
Funny! Clever!
