Pretty dope.
It is a technically flawed film: the editing is all over the place with unnecessary cuts and awkwardly edited dialogue scenes; obvious continuity errors; the dubbing for the music scenes is so sloppy it almost seems intentional; there is always a song playing in the background that is distracting more than anything; and the inclusion of a social media montage felt more like something on the teenager movie checklist that a part of the plot.
But those problems are there because the filmmakers seemed to care less about making a perfect movie and more about making a movie they actually cared about. The film is still enjoyable despite the flaws because of the heart and ambition everyone put into it. The story is cheesy ridiculous and convoluted. It's great to see a teenager movie that proudly uses freeze frames and narration at the beginning. Lots of parts don't even make sense and nothing can be taken seriously but they weren't trying to do that. You laugh with it and not at it. The enthusiasm of all the performances and the fun everyone was having making this film comes across enough to make dope worth watching.
