Review of Dope (2015) by Ricarlos H — 31 Mar 2017
An original coming-of-age/urban (Los Angeles) social commentary that blends 90's retro music with the current pop culture. A lot going on underneath this engaging film's surface, a rises above the genre's conventions with lessons that can make this film roll around in your head for a while after viewing.
This ensemble cast, lead beautifully by Shameik Moore, Kiersy Clemons and Tony Revolori, create characters you care about. Great soundtrack!
