Review of Doonby (2013) by Jim C — 20 Aug 2014
Such an emotional ride! Jenn Gotzon is fantastic. She brought such an element of truth to Laura Reaper. A troubled young lady searching and longing for something better in life. In steps the mysterious Doonby who fills this void, not only in her life, but in the lives of the entire town.
John Schneider embodies Doonby superbly. A humble man always placing the needs of others before his own. But even with all his goodness, evil and jealousy still loom among the residents. Betrayal, heartbreak, and finally, dismissal lead to strong a emotional scene in which Jenn Gotzon shines.
The scene caused my heart to ache for her unnecessary and unfounded pain/hatred towards Doonby. The closing of the film truly evoked a strong sense of importance in me of just how valuable and precious every life is that we encounter in our own.
