Review of Doomsday (2008) by Jasmina . — 28 Jun 2009
I was right. It was corny. Very... 28 Days Later meets (an alive) Resident. Made about as much sense as John's remake of Land of the Dead - which was horrible. In other words: it was a steaming piece of shit. There's no real explination of the disease, just overpopulation. The cities are each run by equally evil, self-centered and self-serving men. In comes the girl who was blinded early on in the film, to of course, look for her chilhood home and any reminants she can find of her long-dead mother (under the guise of saving everyone).
What I didn't understand: They came in and passed a shitload of cows. Why don't the people in the quarantined area just eat them? Having a blatant example of how disgusting and savage people can become when unsupervised is NOT interesting. I felt like they could have done a lot with this movie as far as political motivation within a horror film CAN go (i.e. original Dawn of the Dead series) and they just fell short.
My other question: How the hell did they have so many firearms?
Rhona, I expected this from you, but Bob? Shame on you.
Q: Why do all quarantine walls look the same? <-- Still no answer.
