Review of Doomsday (2008) by Psypher P — 08 Dec 2009
You can always trust Neil Marshall to do two things: make an entertaining film and make one starting with the letter 'D'. From the start it's clear we're not in 'serious film' territory here as blood, breasts and bad dialogue roll out in quick succession; this is silly, brash and fun - and it doesn't try to be anything else.
Things do take a turn for the odd during the last half of the film as Marshall not so much runs out of ideas but instead has so many ideas there's little room for plot or indeed: sense. Rather it's a delightful montage of medieval battles, fast cars, explosions and gore.
It strains credulity beyond breaking point but at no point was I not entertained and by that measure, it's a rollicking success.
