Review of Doomsday (2008) by Sean F — 07 May 2010

Youâ??ll no doubt have heard all about how referential this is to films such as Escape from New York, Aliens, Mad Max etc, so if you love those films youâ??re gonna love this one. Not only because itâ??s made in the same vein as those films, but, youâ??ll love playing spot the reference.

Near the end the film does run out of steam and so Marshall just seems to have thought â??to hell with itâ?? and upped the bonkers quota even more. Iâ??m not gonna spoil it for you, but as a teaser listen out for the moment when Frankie Goes to Hollywoodâ??s â??When Two Tribes Go to Warâ?? comes on the soundtrack. At that point I could have thought this was overkill, or laughed. I laughed my ass off (having done some reading after watching the film, this song was actually written in reference to Mad Max 2, the truth really is stranger than fiction!).

So bonkers itâ??s amazing.
