One of the more knowingly ridiculous movies in recent years, DOOMSDAY is thrilling in its depravity and insistence on style over everything. It's not exactly compelling, and it really comes down to little more than an exercise in excess, but it's one hell of a fun ride, and plays out like a post-apocalyptic wish fulfillment flick in the vein of John Carpenter's ESCAPE films.
