Review of Doomsday (2008) by Daniel L — 06 Apr 2012
At what point does homage become rip-off? How many sub-genre's can a single film cross and still be taken seriously? Sadly, this film feels like a moronic blast to the head as regurgitates Escape From New York and The Road Warrior.
. of course mixing a little Excalibur/Gladiator doesnt hurt either right? Urghh.. I can't tell you how many times I rolled my eyes. The film's only saving grace is Rhona Mitra who I am totally convinced could play a female James Bond if anyone had the balls to attempt it.
I've loved her since her days on THE PRACTICE/BOSTON LEGAL. She deserves better than this farce. If our future is that we are going to pick the dead bones of other films and claim it's homage than we are headed for dark days as film fans.
I hope this isn't a trend. I can't image John Carpenter enjoys this retarded do-over of his work as well.
