Review of Doomsday (2008) by Stuart H — 23 Aug 2013
Being a person that absolutely loves the Mad Max trilogy, John Carpenter's Escape films, and Waterworld, it was practically inevitable that I would fall in love with Doomsday. It feels like an odd blend of Mad Max, Escape From New York, and 28 Days Later, but it was a divine combination to me and I was never bored since the film had plenty to offer, especially in terms of post-apocalyptic films.
It has a corny plot, corny acting, ridiculously over the top action scenes, gory violence, awesome music, and stylish direction. To me, Doomsday is one of the most underrated action films ever made. I hope it gets better appreciation as the years go by, but we'll just have to see.
