Review of Doomsday (2008) by Tony F — 29 Jan 2011
Doomsday has one of the most negative outlooks of nearly any Apocalypse film out there. Mankind is basically garbage is the premise here and without government...the walled off barbaric 'strong' rise up to dominate anything in their path. Strangers become sport and then food and the is no shortage of gore here.
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the film for what it was, a plunge into bloodlust and depravity where there are only a couple 'heroes' in a cast of 1000's.
Neil Marshall has done it again, no holds barred gore and in your face splatterfest. It's Mad Max, Gladiator and Land of the Dead all mixed together with a side of Transporter.
A solid fun ride off the rails.
Not sure why Eden goes back to the cannibals at the end of it all...apparantly the throngs that ate her squad are less revolting than the surviving politicians. Point aside...it's a good time.
