Review of Doomsday (2008) by General G — 30 Nov 2011
Another movie with great potential but failed. I mean, its very obvious to see they were just following in the footsteps of viral zombie movies before it. Just I don't know was ok.
Now, the storyline was good. We have our main character who we saw as a child from the beginning come to face her demons (you can say) years later as a adult. Another plot about a virus outbreak that is destroying the human race...well just across the pond....again.... But yeah, nice apocalyptic story and plot. It still had that sociological horror to it. The rest of the pure healthy people of the world closing off the infected and leaving them to die...well so they thought. These people that got left made there own society and lived on some how. So that is when our main character and we the audience must go back there because another outbreak has happen and they believe a cure is where the cut-off people are. So that was good. Nice action though or it was okay I would say. I was looking for more monster beings or zombies though or people with supernatural powers but didn't get that which is ok too but could have been a little better. Plus the title is a little misleading. I was hoping for more horror and action though at least. Not much blood and gore or horrific scenes either but at least the movie made up for that with action and suspense. The people being contained look awesome though. I believed that part. Being in there for years, cut off from the world...you would look, dress, talk and act the same too.
Again, it seem like it could have been done much better though. Some things were missing for me. Also, looks like they tried too hard to be like 28 Days Later and Water World. Actually, looks like they tried combining the two and over did it. It was good action movie though.
