Review of Doomsday (1938) by Trevor L — 23 Nov 2009
Visually stunning, with great stunt sequences. However, it borrows so heavily from other more famous films that it brings very little original material toward the plot. Also, there's never a sense of urgency, especially concerning the "virus": the virus is never shown to be anything more than a skin rash, so why put up a barricade dividing up England? Still, Doomsday is fun, mindless action but it won't feel like anything else but Mad Max meets Aliens meets Escape from New York.
