Review of Doom (2005) by Jason D — 12 Jan 2010
Doom is, in some (most) ways, pretty abysmal. acting, story, even set design and lighting are pretty poor. still, to damn it with extremely faint praise, it's still one of the best video game movies out there - it's certainly no worse than resident evil and its considerably better than mortal kombat or house of the dead.
occasionally, it's almost kind of entertaining. still, there's one fundamental flaw which the makers don't seem to have realised, especially during the much vaunted (and derided) fps scene - it's not really that much fun watching someone else play videogames.
