The only reason I gave this movie a positive rating is because of a scene about three quarters of the way through the movie that is only about 5 minutes long. If you are into gaming, then you have at least heard of the game ?Doom? which was one of the very first FPS (First Person Shooter) games released in 1993 that essentially established the FPS gaming genre.
When the movie came out 14 years later it was a total disappointment for the most part. And then that 5 minute scene came up in the last half of the movie and blew my mind. They basically pay homage to the FPS genre by switching to ?first person? view in the movie so the viewer is watching the scene down the scope of the weapon, just like the game.
In a sense the filmmakers broke new ground with this scene because it was never done before and I have to admit, it looked cool as hell and was really innovative. Then a few minutes after that the movie started to suck again until it ended.
The acting was sub-par and the story in the movie was completely different (aside from the location) than the game which I'm sure pissed a lot of gamers off, myself included. It's still worth a single view in my opinion for that one scene.
