Review of Doom (2005) by Matthew R — 23 May 2009
Trashy entertainment that has lots of bizarre changes from the video-game that don't seem needed. Why take away the interesting "portal opens door to hell" plot and turn it into a by the numbers "genetic mutation" thing?
The FPS section is entertainingly silly, if a little overly long. And the final fight is just bizarre, and seems to be from another film entirely. The Rock continues to prove he's one of the most charasmatic muscle-bound actors we've ever had, but sadly no one can find a decent film to put him in that makes full use of his talents.
