Review of Doom (2005) by Jeremy M — 11 Dec 2009
Sure, it has nothing to do with the games' stories, but the games didn't have good stories, so shut the fuck up and enjoy a highly entertaining bad movie with a budget. Generic characters beefed up with profane, purposefully over-the-top, personalities, a hilarious first-person-shooter segment, well-made monsters and an excess of cheese make this one of the best (if not the best) bad movies of the 21st century.
Anyone giving this movie a poor review is either overly religious and offended by the content, humourless and without an understanding of camp value, a huge fan of the games that feels cheated by not having some magical uber-movie-squad turning their gameplay into an epic film, a homophobic marine, or just a jealous asshole who wishes he/she came up with the story and the perfect cast.
"Semper fi, motherfucker." Also, it's highly rewatchable, and often on sale for less than $5 on DVD.
