Review of Doom (2005) by Mike D — 13 Jul 2010
Ok this was a weird one?...for me the film drops the ball in a huge way near the end (or sort of near the end)?..the first person sequence feels jammed in there and didn?t work for me ( I think its something you will either love or hate)?and then there?s the characters who all seem to all be psychopaths...which got me thinking?.because I thought to myself ?would these people actually be employable???.but if you think about it they have to kill people all the time...so maybe they really would be like this. If you know your history you?ll know that when the nazis were trying to wipe out the Jews they abandoned firing squads because of the psychological effect on the men in them?.they say that once you kill over a certain number of people it damages the mind in a huge way?.but I don?t know...one of the phychos gets upsets about not getting any reinforcements, so I don?t know?..but it?s a interesting topic to discuss that this film opens up for debate.
A genuinely funny part in the film is where Dwayne Johnson wants and then starts to search for a bigger gun?.he?s goes off to get the BFG and its rather amusing when he 1) finds it 2) fires it for the first time.
