Review of Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead (1991) by Ashley T — 02 Nov 2010
Somehow the camp factor of this movie won me over, even though the plot is completely implausible and the acting is terrible.Christina Applegate looks and acts just like an old friend of mine. It was uncanny and kind of scary.
Don't even get me started on the fashion! Several zoom and panning shots are shaky, which make me question both the film's budget and the crew's previous experience. I'm pretty sure I made better-looking stuff in film school, and that's saying something because I flunked out.
Yet it all comes together in a ridiculously over the top finale (wear the fashion is actually highlighted, like they were *proud* of it!) and damn that theme song is annoyingly catchy.
