Review of Don't Say a Word (2001) by James C — 28 Aug 2008
However you want to look at it this is a simple looking premise that actually works very well as a thriller. The cast are superb, particularly the meancing Sean Bean who reminds us that he can play the good and the bad guy very authentically.
Michael Douglas probably gives his finest turn here as the father in desperate need to get his duaghter back. The one thing that I found a little hard to appreciate was that Douglas is married to Famke Janssen in this film.
But I guess, taking everything into account it's a small niggle when you consider how good the film is as a whole. Plus, think of Douglas and Zeta Jones and the age gap there. I guess it's plausible.
An engaging thriller, refreshing in today's slasher film market.
