Review of Don't Look Now (1936) by Dustin G — 04 Feb 2009
I just can't see why this is such a revered thriller. I get it and all, I just found the direction to be a little over the top in terms of trying to make the viewer feel as if there's something sinister happening. The performances weren't all that great or effective either.
I did like how Venice is depicted not as the touristy city of romance on the water, but as a decaying, rotting place looking as if it may fall right into the water at any moment. I also thought it had a great atmosphere about it, especially a couple of scenes towards the end. Other than that though, this flick was kinda silly.
