Review of Don't Knock Twice (2017) by Rekato — 06 Mar 2017
A troubled white girl who doesn't really like her mother for her reasons (really, it does not matter at all), is not something you have never heard of. This movies seems to try to step up from regular horror films, but end up falling below the regular bad ones. Its pretentious style falls flat when everything else but the lighting and shadows and a some nice shots are utter garbage. It gets really cringey at some points (i.e. the zooming on the character faces in the soup scene), when it clearly tries to bring up the tension, even though you can already see the payoff from a thousand miles away (i.e. the freaking soup. GOD it's so obvious).
This movie is pretty bad. The acting is sloppy, the writing is lazy (did he grab a boot to answer the door at night? Really?), and it has all the so common clichés everyone is tired of, the types of clichés that are ruining the horror movie genre. There's literally nothing new about this movie if you've watched any other big horror production. Not a bad movie to watch with someone who has never watched any horror film EVER or with a person that does not actually likes movies at all. In a nutshell, nothing new. Its just another good flick to watch when you are on a date at your place and you don't expect to actually watch a movie, and want to disguise the sounds you'll be making on the couch with the loud "scary" ones that are coming out of the screen so your parents/roommate/neighbors won't hear you, considering its 2 hours long.
