Review of Don't Breathe (2016) by Augustine H — 31 Jan 2017
Don't Breathe is a horror movie with a little twist. We see a trio of young people who rob houses to get money and try and leave their poor and dead hometown. When they find out a fortune might be waiting in a blind army veterans house they see this as an easy mark.
Naturally, this isn't true, the blind man is much more versatile and dangerous than they think. Half way through the movie a little plot twist also points out, this army veteran has completely lost his mind and has become a creepy psychopath.
The use of a blind man fighting back brings thrilling horror and tension moments which works very well. At first I was even rooting for the poor blind man, but when his basement secrets become clear everything changes, great plot twist.
The only thing that bothered me during Don't Breathe is the almost invincible way the veteran keeps fighting back and some things he does or has done are very unlikely for a blind person. I understand the bad guy had to be a strong one, but this is a little too much.
