Review of Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (1973) by Alex H — 15 Mar 2011
REALLY spooky little made-for-TV movie from the early 70's wherein a young couple inherit a delapidated manse with plans of renovating it. After opening a bricked-up fireplace, the emotionally-fragile wife (A suitably twitchy Kim Darby-) discovers a cadre of nasty and murderous little trolls ensconced there who embark on a merciless and torturous onslaught of her, hoping to force her to join their twisted legion.
An original and offbeat production with an imaginative plot, good acting, and some creepy, well-conceived set-pieces, and the evil, plotting imps are the stuff of nightmares.
