Review of Donovan's Reef (1963) by Jon A — 18 Sep 2007
This movie, admittedly, is not everyone's cup of tea, particularly if you're more than one generation removed from World War II. But the South Pacific scenery is gorgeous, and John Wayne and Lee Marvin have a great chemistry.
The plot does tend to be a bit murky, unless you are familiar with history of post-WWII French Polynesia. Even so, this is a movie to simply sit back, not invest too much intellectual effort, and enjoy.
