Donnie Darko is a masterpiece of twisted proportions. It's a film that must be watched more than once to be fully understood. It's a drama with a psychological sci-fi/horror twist. It's well-written and very thought provoking.
I think the movie "Looper" was inspired by this story. I think the reason it flopped is because people were not ready for it. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.
