Review of Donkey Punch (2008) by Kaisa V — 23 Sep 2009
Unremarkable variant on the â??accidental death begets cover up and murderâ?? plot (q.v. Stag, Very Bad Things) notable mostly for an old school genre attitude whereby sex is exploited for maximum titillation, while any character that appears to enjoy it is mercilessly punished.
The restrictions of location and cast mean there are not many opportunities for creative kills in the slasher mode, while the general unlikeability of the ensemble works against any attempts at suspense.
(Dead Calm it ainâ??t.) If you caught this on TV late at night you wouldnâ??t hate yourself for watching it, but itâ??s not in any sense necessary.
