Review of Don Jon (2013) by Ray S — 27 May 2014
Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut is thought-provoking, if nothing else. I really enjoyed it. It analyzes the main character's addiction to pornography and how this negatively effects his sex life and what he expects of women.
It doesn't stop there though and draws some interesting parallels between pornography and romantic films: women have unrealistic expectations that men should be these perfectly romantic gentlemen while men have unrealistic expectations that women should fulfill their wildest sexual fantasies.
