Review of Don Jon (2013) by Brad W — 22 Mar 2015
Don Jon has the rare capability to capture your heart as well as your intellect throughout the entire film. Joseph Gordon Levitt establish's his messages and themes in the most crude, vulgar ways possible, however that is what not only makes this movie appealing but fascinating to watch.
Wether the movie is examining the male libido, a woman's addiction to romance or the disintegration of religion and family in modern times, Don Jon expresses itself eloquently with a low brow script, allowing every viewer to leave with a strong opinion of the film.
Somehow in a movie about porn the takeaway is profound and wether you love this movie or hate it, it allows for personal reflection, which in my opinion, is what modern cinema should be about.
